TRO said five of their workers were abducted in Batticaloa

Security forces were ordered to investigate Welikanda area and find the missing workers of Tamil Rahabilitation Organisation (TRO), if those involved in the abduction are camping in Welikanda, Polonnaruwa.

The TRO, a charity with links to Tamil Tigers, accused paramilitaries allegedly working with Sri Lanka military of abducting ten of their workers.

But the government has denied any involvement.

LTTE warning

Three workers have since returned home, according to TRO.

A press release issued by the government Information Director on Sunday stated that the forces have already begun investigations in Welikanda.

Separately, the LTTE have expressed concern on the violence aimed at their members since both parties agreed to held talks in Geneva, Switzerland.

Media coordinator Daya Master told BBC Tamil Service that the Tamil Tigers are concerned of the abduction of TRO workers and murdering a senior cadre "by deep penetration unit".

Although the LTTE released a policeman in custody as a goodwill gesture after the agreement on 25 January, he added, the government is yet to reciprocate their gesture.

The government and the LTTE agreed for the compromise venue after talks with Norwegian International Development Minister Erik Solheim.

Both parties have named their heads of delegations but dates for the proposed talks are yet to be agreed.
