FM killing: two suspects named
Slain minister Lakshman Kadirgamar
Minister Kadirgamar opposed LTTE's struggle for a separate homeland
The police have named two more suspects on the assassination of Sri Lankan Foreign Minister, Lakshman Kadirgamar.

Colombo magistrate granted permission to Crime Branch (Colombo) to name Maanikkam Tamiliniyam and Rengan Janagam as suspects of the assassination plot.

The two were arrested while taking photographs around the residence of the slain minister before the assassination.

The magistrate ordered to remand the suspects until 12 September.

The courts were also informed of the arrest of two other suspects, Muttiah Sagayadevan of Kirulapone and E Arokyanathan of Kotahena, who were detained under Emergency Regulations.

Police said the investigations are continued to find their involvement in the assassination.

Minister Kadirgamar was shot and killed by unidentified snipers as he came out of the swimming pool of his private residence in the capital, Colombo, on 12 August.

Government and the police accused the Tamil Tigers but the LTTE denied any involvement.

The slain minister, who successfully campaigned to impose an international ban on Tigers, was believed to be the number one target of the LTTE at the time of the attack.
