Shrewsbury Abbey- view from the Nave Shrewsbury Abbey began life as a humble wooden church in Saxon times, but under the Normans became one of the most important buildings in Shropshire. It is the only one of Shropshire's many monasteries to survive as a church after the Dissolution of the Monasteries by Henry VIII.
