 Warplane hangar
Although the more famous aircraft are at the RAF Museum's Hendon, the Cosford museum still features an impressive collection of warbirds - both those flown by the RAF and types used by its enemies, such as Nazi Germany, Japan and even Argentina.
Prominent in this shot with its huge orange nose is a PBY6A Catalina flying boat, a World War II vintage aircraft which could operate from land and water. To the right of the Catalina is a De Haviland Venom jet fighter, then a P51 Mustang, which only arrived at Cosford in summer 2003, a Hawker Hurricane and a Supermarine Spitfire, three legendary World War II fighter aircraft. Also to be seen in this image are a Mitsubishi Ki 46 'Dinah', a 1930s Hawker Hart, and Messerschmitt 410 and a De Haviland Mosquito.
