 Research and Development hangar
The RAF Museum, Cosford, has a remarkable array of aircraft used for research and development purposes.
This view shows the collection, with the revolutionary TSR2 (in white), a futuristic aircraft development by British Aircraft Corporation in the 1960s, that was controverially axed while still in development by the Government of the time. To the right of the TSR2 is a Hunting H126, which was built to test jet airflow, an Avro 707 prototype, a Sepecat Jaguar adapted to demonstrate 'fly by wire' technology, the Bristol 188 stainless steel research plane, three prototype aircraft associated with the English Electric Lightning, a Fairey FD2, a World War II-vintage prototype Gloster Meteor, and the 'prone position' Meteor.
