Michael got a real Dawley welcome at one of the many fine drinking establishments in the town, and heard a few stories.
He paid a visit to the Dawley Pub, The Crown on the High Street. He soon discovered that this local is something of a haven for Dawley locals... with many a tale to tell.
Programme Three | | Amongst a few of the characters that Michael shares a pint with, is language fan Angus Duncan and Billy Churms, who's a bit of an expert on the Dawley dialect.
Billy's worked in Dawley most of his life, firstly as a miner at the Kemberton pit and then at The Eveready factory... Both now closed.
Meanwhile, Ken Thomas, has been involved with amateur boxing in Dawley for many years. In fact, for Ken, boxing is in the blood. | | | | Staying in the pub, Michael meets Pat and John. Pat's a Dawley girl, born and bred who knows what it's like to look after your family first. Michael learns that every ring holds a story and even gets a bit of a song. | |
