BBC Radio Shropshire's Jim Hawkins caught up with him for the station's Laughter Track programme. In 2003, Morris quit his job ordering paperclips and left his mum and her sister in the village of Moreton Say, near Market Drayton. His mission was to make his mark on the world, to right wrongs, to expose the hidden conspiracies, to damp the fires of evil with my hose of truth. We heard about his mission at the BBC Shropshire website, and asked him to keep us up with his adventures as he travelled the world and spread his message. His travels have taken him all over the world, from the USA to Europe, Australia and the Far East. Along the way he's been locked up by the CIA, taken on Country Life magazine, had a brush with the gun lobby and toured the Australian Outback with a female Beatles tribute band. But they ditched him when they discovered he wasn't really Ray Mears' brother. In Shanghai he became a one man death machine, before converting a group of Shaolin monks to the Shropshire Way - his philosophy, not the long-distance footpath. And in the town of Lost Hope, Alaska (pop. 34), he was lucky to escape with his life after falling foul of the local 'pope'. | Ayer's Rock - Somewhere else Morris has been |
But he still misses his native Moreton Say, a village he describes as 'the garden of Eden of Shropshire'. And he claims most of the population of the world agrees. "Most of the people I meet want deep down to live in Shropshire," he told Jim Hawkins. "Not all of them admit it. Not all of them tell me that, but I can tell by the crying in their eyes that they do want to live in Shropshire. "Shropshire has, per square metre more happy people than anywhere else on earth." Quite. Morris returned to Shropshire after being told of the untimely death of his mother. Except she'd really faked her death in order to get him to come back. Still, he's not short of anything to do while he's here. His mum dutifully video recorded every single episode of Countdown while he was away. So right now he's busy on a 185 hour Countdown marathon. |
