Recycling in Shropshire

Want to be eco-friendly in Shropshire? Whether it's glass bottles, green waste or an old car battery, find out where your nearest recycling centre is and when it's open.

People in Shropshire are being urged to make a special effort to recycle more. The county throws away a huge amount of rubbish and waste bosses want to improve on the 38% recycling and composting rates.

The area has nine Household Recycling Centres at which you can recycle up to 20 different types of waste, including paper, cans, glass, plastic bottles, batteries, cardboard, electrical items and garden waste.

Shropshire Waste Partnership provides Household Recycling Centres (HRCs) at:

Shrewsbury, Vanguard Way, Battlefield Enterprise Park
Bridgnorth, Lodge Farm, Barnsley Lane
Oswestry, Maesbury Road
Whitchurch, Waymills Civic Park,
Craven Arms, Long Lane Industrial Park

April to October 9am - 7pm weekdays,
9m - 6pm weekends and bank holidays

November to March 9am - 5pm daily, including weekends and bank holidays

Telford and Wrekin Council also caters for recycling, with four Community Recycling Centres (CRCs):

Newport, Springfield Industrial Estate
Granville, Red Hill, off the A5
Ketley, New Whitchurch Drive, A5223
Halesfield, Halesfield Industrial Estate

Opening times:
March to October 8am – 4pm daily, including weekends

November to February 8am – 4.30pm weekdays
10am – 3.30pm weekends and bank holidays

Other recycling facilities

In addition to these larger plants, there are scores of bottle, glass, textile and aluminium banks in your local area available for public use throughout the year.

All parts of Shropshire now have some form of kerbside collection scheme in place. The service does not cover all residents and for more information please contact the relevant waste management office:
