Scott was shocked when his mother Margaret turned up in Shieldinch, and told him that his father had been taken into hospital in Glasgow. He rushed to his father (Reverend John Wallace) bedside, and found out that he needs a kidney transplant. Horrified, Scott offered to donate one of his own, only for John to refuse. Knowing his father had always been vehemently anti gay, Scott assumed his father couldn't stand to have a 'gay kidney'. Devastated, he stormed out of the hospital unable to deal with the anger and rejection his father had made him feel yet again. Back in Shieldinch, Scott confided in Gordon about his past history with his father - how John's religious beliefs destroyed their relationship, making it impossible for John to accept Scott for who he was. Gordon persuaded Scott to go back to the hospital and face up to his father while he still could. Scott returned to John's bedside and before his father could interrupt he told his dad exactly how he feels. When he finished, John told a stunned Scott that he refused the kidney because he didn't want any more treatment – he wanted to die.

An angry Scott couldn't t believe his father was going to give up on life, after everything he had preached to him, and said he wanted to donate the kidney anyway. The doctor was forced to reveal the extent of John's condition. John was dying as a direct result of refusing to take the pills he was supposed to and now it was too late, the transplant wouldn't make any difference.

Realising his father made the decision to give up on his life when he stopped taking the pills Scott returned to his bedside. John explained that he was weary of being so terribly ill and being such a burden on his long-suffering wife. Overwhelmed, Scott made peace with his father, and as the old man slowly drifted to sleep Scott stayed by his side and read from the bible until he quietly passed away.

Gina felt hurt when Eileen insinuated that the attack on her was partly her own fault because she was a little tipsy on the night of her attack. As the day progresses she grew more and more annoyed by Eileen's continuing comments, not realising that she was trying to make light of the situation because she felt partly responsible.

Eileen is getting into the swing of being a local councillor and arranged for a meeting with DI Hall and some of the local women to find out how the case was progressing. DI Hall explains that the police's hands were tied until they get more evidence which the women knew meant that they were waiting for someone else to be attacked.

Hayley decided that she wouldn't stand by just waiting to be the next victim and revealed she was a champion at marshal arts. Eileen enlisted her help to run a self defence class and co- opted Daniel into her plan to play the role of 'the attacker'.

That evening Hayley tried to show the women how to fend off an attack but they seemed to lack confidence, forcing Hayley to ask a reluctant Gina to step forward and show them how she managed to fight off the attacker. At first Gina was distressed when Daniel pretended to attack her, but with encouragement from Hayley she summoned up the courage and stunned the other women when she managed to floor Daniel in three easy moves. When Eileen appeared to belittle her achievement Gina told her in no uncertain terms to shut up. Eileen admitted that she felt guilty about leaving Gina to walk home alone on the night she was attacked, and the two sisters made their peace with each other before heading home.
