Eileen was finding life on the campaign trail hard going after her negative remarks about Shieldinch in the press. She decided to set up a painting party in the community centre to try and turn the tide of public opinion. Once Scott had the bright idea of combining the party with a show of solidarity with Scarlett, the residents of Montego Street got on board.
Alex turned at the party and tried to rile Eileen, but she stood her ground. Scott uncovered some minutes from the council meetings which showed Alex hadn't been as honest as he was making out. behind closed doors, he'd been voting against the Shieldinch Community Centre, despite making a public show of support for the project. Eileen was furious, and realised that the future of the centre depended on her winning the election. Scott agreed to be her campaign manager to help her do just that.
Scarlett blamed herself for getting the sack at the Ship, and thought she deserved it for working for Lenny in the first place. Jimmy and Bob were worried about her state of mind- Jimmy was even more worried when he saw that Michael Learmouth was able to cheer Scarlett up when he himself had failed.
Bob called for a boycott of the Tall Ship until Scarlett was reinstated. Lenny laughed it off- he didn't care as he was about to sell the Ship. Unfortunately for Lenny, the deal fell through. Another potential buyer appeared, and not wanting the Ship to appear empty, Lenny was forced to eat humble pie and offer Scarlett double time to come back. Scarlett agreed but she had an ulterior motive. Scarlett, Deek, Bob and Jimmy worked to make sure that the buyer was not impressed with the pub. Lenny was livid when the sale fell through, but still wouldn't sell to Raymond when he made him an offer. Lydia, however, made Lenny see sense and Raymond was delighted to be behind the bar where he belonged once again.
It was Liz's birthday and she was disappointed not to receive a card from Archie. the family tried to show sympathy, but Liz saw that they expected nothing better from Archie. Liz ordered some flowers for herself and pretended that they were from Archie. Unfortunately, Malcolm, seeing how upset Liz was, used the flowers to try and track Archie down. When the shop left an phone message for Liz regarding her order, it was Malcolm who picked it up. He decided to leave it be and not confront Liz about it.
