A grief stricken Raymond read a letter from Shona detailing her last wishes. She wanted a bright, cheerful funeral and to be buried in the family plot on Barra. Eileen offered Raymond a shoulder to cry on but it was clear that he wanted to keep himself to himself. Roisin arrived, and Raymond told her that he thought Iona should be told the truth about Shona's death- but Roisin convinced him that it was better to wait until after the funeral. Raymond agreed, against his better judgement, but let the cat out of the bag when he began talking about the funeral as if Shona had planned it. Iona became suspicious and the truth was revealed. A massive row between Iona, Raymond and Roisin followed, and feeling hurt and left out, Iona stormed out of the flat in tears.
Deek found Iona in a dreadful state. The two shared their experiences of losing someone close, and Deek tried to convince Iona that she needed family around her. Iona was still too hurt and angry to listen and refused to go back to Raymond and Roisin. Meanwhile, Raymond was feeling terrible about the fight and set out to find Iona, only to find Shirley, who was acting pretty strangely. Raymond didn't really notice, however, as he was too wrapped up in his own issues.
The next morning, Iona still hadn't returned and Raymond began to worry that she'd miss the funeral. As the time of the funeral drew closer and people began to gather for the procession, he began to think they'd need to cancel. However, after Deek let him know where she was, Raymond found Iona and gave her Shona's letter. She finally understood what was going on. Roisin arrived and in tears, Iona confessed that she didn't know how she'd cope without Shona. Roisin invited Iona to come and stay with her, and Iona accepted. Reconciled, the three then joined the rest of the mourners, all remembering the happy times they spent with Shona.
Elsewhere, after the Mullen's gas oven wouldn't work and Daniel and Malcolm's boilers went on the blink, Malcolm reckoned there was a supply problem. Daniel and Jimmy dismissed Malcolm's theory, but he was later proven right when a gas engineer came to sort things out. There was more trouble when the gas engineer caused a burst water main which threatened to disrupt the funeral procession.
Malcolm told Daniel and Jimmy he knew what to do but was again ignored- however, he saved the day by turning the water off in the street. After he offered Jimmy a wee dram of whisky to stave off a cold, Jimmy realised there's a lot more to Malcolm than meets the eye and that life experience counts for something!
Ruth had an unpleasant experience on the subway- she told Shirley that she thought she'd been groped. Shirley wondered if it had been accidental and later, Gina and Eileen tried to make light of the situation, but Ruth became increasingly worried about what had happened. Later, she saw a newspaper report detailing several assaults on women in the Shieldinch and Mossgreen area. Realising she was right to be concerned, she called the police.
