A strange old cowboy turned up Shieldinch, on the run from some nasty people, and trying to find Jimmy. It turned out it was Kid Mullen, Jimmy's dad. He was an immediate hit with Scarlett and Bob although Jimmy was very standoffish. He explained to Scarlett how his father let his family down time and time again.

Shona and Raymond turned up for a surprise visit with some even more surprising news; they are getting married. Iona was ecstatic, but the happy couple asked her to keep it to herself. Later, when Shona had a dizzy spell, Iona put two and two together and came up with pregnancy! Iona couldn't resist telling Eileen her sister's happy news and soon it spread through Shieldinch. Raymond and Shona made it clear to Iona that she was barking up the wrong tree with regard to the pregnancy.

Having borrowed some money off Jimmy, Kid Mullen turned up at the Tall Ship in a less than sober state and made a nuisance of himself.

A dodgy looking gangster type called Spider Barclay turned up at Jimmy's door looking for Kid. Jimmy sent him packing. Meanwhile, Kid Mullen was now very drunk indeed at the Tall Ship and said something most inappropriate to Eileen who was having a drink with Alex Judd. As Deek and Bob tried to carry him out, the Kid took a swing at Judd and accidentally hit Ewan instead. He was delivered back to the Mullens' flat and Scarlett made it clear she wanted him out. Suddenly it was Jimmy defending him.

The next day Kid Mullen ran rings around Deek and Bob and won their wages from them. He soon had to hand it over to Spider Barclay who made it clear he wants the debt paid by the end of the day.

Scarlett popped home from work to find the Kid rummaging about in the kitchen. Her suspicions were raised when she saw him putting a tin back on a shelf which was stuffed full of the money Raymond got back from Sharon. Scarlett was adamant he had to go but Jimmy argued that he has had to deal with all sorts from Scarlett's family and it's payback time. Nicki found the Kid crying in the boatyard and apparently contemplating suicide. Meanwhile, Scarlett discovered that the money has gone – the Kid must have taken it!

The kid gave Spider a wad of cash and made a sharp exit. Barclay quickly realised that had very little actual cash in it and gave chase. Kid stole Jimmy's taxi and sped off! Jimmy's anger at his father turned to concern when Nicki told him about Kid's earlier state.

The taxi was found abandoned near the river.

Soon enough he turned up alive and well in the back of a police car and we found out he was wanted for fraud in Edinburgh. He hadn't stolen the money after all and in fact had hidden in it in the Mullens' oven in case Spider paid a visit. Unfortunately, that oven had since been used and the money was burnt to a crisp!
After inspecting Jimmy's taxi, Bob told him that his father did him a favour; the vehicle was a death trap.

Meanwhile, Ewan was depressed about Sammi leaving when Lenny broke it to him that he's going to sell the Tall Ship. He managed to make Ewan feel like he was being consulted first.

Lenny and Lydia called a family meeting and told Ewan and Amber how things would be from here on in; they'll make decisions as a family. Amber sussed that Lenny had started proceedings to sell the pub before talking to Ewan and let him know. Ewan was incensed and felt like there was nothing he could do to make his dad proud.

Ewan, in an effort to impress Lenny, had been to see some commercial property agents about selling the pub. Lenny wasn't taken by the idea but does his best not to hurt Ewan's feelings and told him that they are a team.
