Ruth was upset when she found out folk were gossiping about her and visited Zoe to tell her she'd made the whole thing up about syphilis. She didn't want Zoe breaking her confidence. Zoe found herself in the awkward position of being Ruth's shoulder to cry on. Iona forced an apology out of her about the other day, and Ruth decided a night out was just what she needed. She, Scott and Jo started drinking in the Ship but the others couldn't keep up with the wronged wife. She got really drunk and upset... and Zoe, again, found herself looking after her.
Scarlett was delighted by her new business venture and had some creative ways of dreaming up positive marketing! Having had to leave Gina in the lurch at the Oyster, she tried to make amends by sending Kelly-Marie to work there. Kelly was reluctant but did what she was told. However, Douglas had also decided to apply for a job there and Gina found herself with two members of staff. Eventually, she plucked up the courage to explain that she could only take on one. That was good news for Kelly! She quickly took up an offer from Iona and went to work at Versus.
Lydia befriended a new face in town - Jodie, an interior designer, who was very taken by Hola!
Heather started looking into all the recuperation tools needed for Gerry when he comes out of hospital, despite the fact he had only just regained consciousness. Scott questioned whether or not she really could look after him - it doesn't matter how much progress he makes, he's going to need a lot of care. Jo, too, tried to point out the scale of what she was taking on.
Meanwhile, a very flirty Whiteside decided to remind her Gerry was willing to let her take the blame for his drugs. However, Heather was insistent that she could care for him. Gerry wasn't so happy about it though - she tried to feed him at the hospital but he was visibly distressed and would only let the nurse look after him. Heather was really upset but went home to transform herself into her usual business self. By the time she reached Versus, it seemed she'd made a decision to not play Florence Nightingale any longer. And when Whiteside came through the bar to her office, the pair kissed passionately!
