Now, if you'd just illegally rummaged about in your husband's medical records and found out he had syphilis, thus risking your career, would you risk delving into his ex-mistress's records? This is Ruth we're talking about! Frustrated that the doctor wouldn't reveal any private information about her consultations with Marty, Ruth was convinced Iona was to blame and tried to look in her records! Dr Lau caught her and told her she'd turned a blind eye once but wouldn't again - she sent her home and told her to come back when she was professional again.
Meanwhile, Zoe was frantically trying to get test results back to find out if she'd been infected. Ruth tried to talk to her mum about what was going on but Jo interrupted and Ruth took matters into her own hands. She spotted Iona and started to physically tear into her! Kelly-Marie and Zoe had to break it up and Zoe found herself in the very awkward position of taking Ruth home to look after her. Ruth poured her heart out and vowed revenge on whoever gave Marty the disease. Uh oh.
Raymond was moping about cos Polly had dumped him but pretended all was well with the world. When Eileen questioned him, Liam unexpectedly saved his bacon by making up a story about Polly calling and sounding like a bunny boiler. That gave Raymond an opportunity to 'dump' the 'clingy Polly'. Eileen was confused and it was clear that Liam wasn't too happy about Eileen's commitment to their own relationship.
Scarlett saw red when Deek nicked her internet sales idea! Unfortunately for him, though, his item descriptions were less than glowing and he was failing to make any money. Scarlett reckoned she could market rain to Scotland so she helped him out with some sparkling sales blurbs. She then set up wireless internet in the Oyster, and got Jimmy to bid on Deeks's stuff to make them look popular! Finally convinced of Scarlett's worth, Deek offered to employ her but she told him she wanted to be a partner or else. She let him think she was opening up a rival shop and eventually he came to his senses. They'll join forces!
Heather was still determined that Gerry would recover and her hopes were heightened when he became conscious but she wouldn't accept any of the consultant's advice to be wary. Angrily, she got a second opinion from Dr Lau, who managed to convince her not to try to move Gerry to a private clinic. Heather apologised to the consultant and was warned that life would be very difficult when she decides to take Gerry home to care for.
