It was St. Valentine's Day and everyone's thoughts turned to chocolates, flowers, love... and revenge.

Heather was glued to Gerry's bedside, watching and waiting for any signs of recovery. The slightest thing gave her cause for optimism but Scott had to tell her to face the harsh truth - any movement Gerry made was likely to be involuntary. The consultant broke the news that he's paralysed down one side of his body, was unlikely to even be aware of their presence in his room, and there was no guarantee he'd recover. Heather was distraught, whilst Scott was far more pragmatic. She turned on him and told him he should've stopped Gerry doing drugs. Scott was disgusted! She stormed out and headed home to sob over her Valentine's card.

Rory tried to impress Zoe with flowers but she avoided him, determined that he'd take the hint - she doesn't want to see him! Undeterred, he enlisted Nicki's help and turned up at the flat. She threw him out but he quickly wormed his way back in and got her smiling. She told him she might have an STD but not even that was enough to put him off - he really likes her and he's not going anywhere.

Raymond was glowing after a night with Polly and set about making a romantic breakfast. She didn't seem so keen though. He arranged a lovely night out for her but whilst he sat waiting for her in Versus, she texted to say she'd decided not to come. He put on a brave front and gave everyone the impression all was well but he headed out into the night, despondent. Shona, meanwhile, was feeling lonely amid the happy couples and love hearts. Even Douglas got in on the act by buying Gina a necklace and taking her out to dinner!

Marty was full of the joys of spring, determined to enjoy St. Valentine's Day with his loving wife. That's what he intended, anyway. Ruth was keeping mighty quiet about her discovery at the surgery and was plotting revenge. After a romantic meal, she gave him his present: a leaflet about syphilis! She yelled at him, explaining the dangers of the disease to her and to an unborn baby. His actions could cause a child a whole lot of pain. She threw him out and wouldn't listen to any of protests. (Oh, and she thinks Iona is the one who gave him the STD. She has a lot to learn!)

Out in the street, Gina and Douglas were shocked to see Ruth throwing Marty's stuff out her window. And then the icing on the cake came: Lenny turned up, having heard all about Marty's little secrets from Ruth, and made him sign over his half of Med Dreams for just £20,000. As if that wasn't bad enough, Lenny insisted that he hand over the money to his wife. Marty had no choice but to walk away...
