Gerry's cocaine habit got worse.

Gerry tried to keep the all night party going at Marty's but that didn't go down well with Ruth and Jo, especially when they found his wrapper of coke within feet of the kids. They threw him out and Marty was confused when his wife and sister-in-law were suddenly on the same side. He can't keep up with their arguments!

Iona stumbled home from her Hogmanay revelry to find Douglas sleeping rough in her doorway! She, Shona and Roisin took it upon themselves to take him in and look after him... although Iona's main contribution was interrogating him about his alleged amnesia! By the time she was finished Douglas knew a few more facts about Archie's past and decided not to put Gina through any more. Meanwhile, his long-suffering wife was fretting about his whereabouts. Liz and Eileen were doing their best to forget about him and were horrified when Gina admitted she'd told the police Douglas could stay with her. When she spotted him in the street after his stay with the McIntyres, she ushered him into the Oyster and he admitted he's disgusted with his behaviour in his past life. Just as this new, seemingly kind soul touched Gina's hand, Jo stormed in and Gina found out she'd sent him packing last night. Douglas wandered off and Gina had a go at Jo for interfering! Unfortunately, he wandered right into the path of a very coked-up Gerry and got more than a mouthful from him. Gerry laid right into him and beat him up! He took out all of his anger on him, kicking him black and blue.

In the Ship, Liz confessed to Malcolm her anguish at seeing Archie's blank looks. She couldn't bear that he doesn't remember her. Malcolm tried to make her see she couldn't switch off from him but she reckoned she didn't have a choice. She decided to get out of Glasgow but she walked right into the stramash outside and found her beloved son being beaten up. All her plans went by the wayside and she waded in to stop it, while Jo held her mum back. She helped Archie up and took him to safety.

Elsewhere in the Ship, Eileen and Liam were winding down from another successful day in the The Grill. In fact, it was very successful for Liam cos Raymond told him he could move into the spare room to get him out of his nasty bedsit. Eileen was reluctant but had no obvious argument to back up a refusal. However, the sexual tension between her and her new flatmate was rising and by the end of the night the pair couldn't resist any more and they got very steamy!
