The Ice Boat At Sea
Mark Beaumont was able to send a few tweets while the team were rowing. You can read that story below and check his twitter for new updates.
- Day 20, woke to snow - wind has eased and fog lifted so we are rowing again - great relief by all.
- The weather stayed good so stopped briefly at Cornwall Is. and are now heading straight onto 60 mile crossing to Ellef Ringnes.
- Billy Gammon especially pleased to get to Cornwall Island. He's from Cornwall. Had pledged not to change any clothes till then.
- We will be rowing through the night. Not an issue as the next sunset is due at the end of next week! Everyone in great spirits.
- Just passed through big but fairly dispersed ice field - now in open water again. 20 out of 60 miles rowed of this crossing.
- It's been an amazing nights rowing - sun dipped but never set. No-one has slept much, it's 7.30am here. We are 3 hrs from land.
- This is last big crossing. Still fair way to go but will be coastal hopping. Will be huge relief to reach Ellef Ringnes Island.
- Still not made landfall for night on Ellef Ringnes. Tired crew after day, night and day rowing without sleep. Too much ice around.
