Workshops and equipment

The Highland Lives workshops, part of the Highland 2007 festival, have come to an end. The equipment is still available to use in the six towns the team visited. (See where.)

Some venues are already organising community audio-video projects.

  • In Thurso, college students are recording the area's history by making audio stories about local people, places and traditions.
  • Across the region, the Highland Employer Coalition is interested in how digital storytelling can help unemployed people demonstrate their abilities to a could-be boss.

Contact the venues directly if you would like to find out about joining in or borrowing equipment – locations and phone numbers are below.

The programme

Participants (up to 12 at each location) produced either a short film or an audio slideshow (illustrated with still pictures) and received training in all the technology – cameras, microphones and editing.

The programme included an introduction evening, a workshop training day – either for video making or audio recording – and an edit day (again, either video or audio). It culminated with an evening local community showcase.
