About Highland Lives![]() Is there somewhere in the Highlands that you could tell a story about? Everyone has a story to tell. During the 2007 Highland Year of Culture, folk in the Highlands had an opportunity to tell theirs, as a short film or an audio slideshow (illustrated with still pictures). The digital storytelling movement started in the USA in the early 1990s at the Center For Digital Storytelling in Berkeley, California and has quickly spread across the globe. This project links storytelling to a geographical area (the Highlands) and maps stories to particular places. Everywhere you see a map, such as just to the right here, you can click on the dots to see videos, still pictures and audio slideshows.
So how can I take part? All the Highland Lives sessions have now finished but you can read more about the workshops and equipment, including how you can still make use of the kit. Can I find out more? There is a page of answers to frequently asked questions. For more information on digital storytelling visit the BBC Capture Wales website. A sample of other current projects can be found in the links section, upper right on this page. Map © Crown copyright.
