The BBC Safeguarding Team are part of the wider 'Safety, Security & Resilience' function and provide central risk advisory, governance, compliance and case management services for all individuals and outputs across the BBC organisation, both in the UK and internationally.
As 'Subject Matter Experts', BBC Safeguarding Specialists routinely provide support to the business, from initial planning and compliance stages, through to delivery and post-transmission on all output involving children and/or vulnerable adults. This includes, but is not limited to:
- Delivery of advanced safeguarding training and bespoke briefings to BBC staff and engaged freelancers
- Conducting in-person and virtual assurance visits to ensure identified arrangements are in use
- Oversight of planning and delivery of welfare provision at BBC events alongside BBC Studio Audience Teams
- Attendance at compliance and 'green light' meetings so safeguarding is top of the agenda for production teams
- Full case management of reported concerns involving children and/or vulnerable adults in line with BBC Safeguarding Escalation Framework
