We're halfway through IBC - and today we're highlighting our work on object-based media on our stand, plus other highlights including subtitling and High Frame Rate TV. Tweet your highlights (#BBCIBC) or share a post on Facebook, we'll add the best here.
Today's the day when you can catch our two award winning technical papers presented at the IBC Conference. The papers are in the set of eight that have been picked from 330 submissions from around the world and Michael Evans and Matt Brooks from our team present one of our pair at lunchtime. "Creating object-based experiences in the real world" rounds up the work on several key BBC R&D projects - some of which are presented on our IBC stand this year including:
Following on from the sessions on HDR and Hybrid Log-Gamma which we picked out on yesterday's blog, we've noticed some sessions at today's conference on the subject of High Frame Rate TV - another leap in picture quality which BBC R&D is working on too. "HFR and Synthetic Shutter: Separating ‘the look’ from the frame rate" is at 10am Saturday morning - and you can find our work on High Frame Rate here.

We mentioned VR in yesterday's post - it's turning into a bit of a theme at IBC as two sessions today look at the genre too. In "The New Reality" Alexandre Jenny of GoPro and others talk to Oisin Lunny about the latest developments in the augmented and mixed reality world - with a bit of future gazing thrown in too. And later today Si Lumb of R&D takes part in a panel discussion (which includes Google's Head of Android TV, Sascha Prueter) on where the future of entertainment lies. If that interests you, do look at the BBC Taster VR demos on our IBC stand and be sure to catch the technical paper session on directing attention with R&D's Alia Sheikh taking you through our other IBC award winning paper as well:

The work on our IP Studio project was heavily profiled yesterday and our team are presenting their work on our stand, but if you aren't at IBC then read more from us on how IP is set to revolutionise production and broadcasting.
