Francesca Annis
on her latest stage role

Actress Francesca Annis talks about her latest role in John Osborne and Anthony Creighton's play, An Epitaph for George Dillon. Francesca first appeared on screen aged 14, and is perhaps best known to cinema audiences for her role as Lady Macbeth in Roman Polanski's Macbeth.

Her stage career has been similarly impressive, gaining her critical acclaim for her performance as Gertrude opposite Ralph Fiennes as Hamlet on Broadway in the mid-nineties - the performance which also marked the start of their much talked about love affair.

As Ruth in Osborne and Creighton's passionate post-war drama, she is frustrated by her inability to leave the suburbs. There she is forced to live with the angry and self-doubting aspiring actor, George, played by Ralph's younger brother, Joseph.
