A magical recreation of the world traditional circus

Nell Gifford of Gifford's Circus, launched the circus that bears her name in the year 2000. But you'd be forgiven for thinking you've gone back in time to the 1930s if you visit this magical recreation of the world traditional circus, complete with jugglers, strong men, clowns - and above all equestrian artists.

Nell's passion for horses led her to fall in love with the circus when she was a teenager. Now she and her husband Toti spend the summer months on the road, pitching their big top on the village greens of Wiltshire and Gloucestershire.

Nell revels in devising a brand new show every year and Judi Herman went to meet her as she and her Russian Cossack riders rehearsed for this year's 'Cockerel Show'.
