British schoolgirls meet their counterparts in India

Today is the launch of World Class, a pan BBC initiative to encourage schools to establish links between classrooms across the globe.

The benefits of children from the UK meeting and sharing experiences with children from other countries can be huge. Not only are perceptions and stereotypes challenged, but firm friendships are made.

Save the Children and Giving Nation recently gave 8 schoolgirls from Stroud the chance to visit a residential camp in Rajasthan. Girls in the region rarely receive an education and the school offers girls a chance to receive five years of education in just six months.
