The senses 4: Sight12 August 2004
Why restoring old paintings requires perfect vision

Jenny Ludwig is a painting conservateur.

To do her job of restoring old masters, Jenny relies heavily on her 20-20 vision. She can detect previous botched restoration and uses her keen sense of sight to match, exactly, the original colours on damaged works.

Rachel Ellison pays Jenny a visit to find out more about her work.
