Political families12 August 2004
How much are politicians' children influenced by their parents?

James Pearson and his mother are both elected as Conservative councillors in Trafford.

The political bug can run in families - John Cryer, Hillary Benn and Margaret Jay, all followed their parents into politics. But, what happens when the children of politicians reject their parents' views rather than adopt them?

Lesley Hilton talks to a child of a politician who feels their views have had a positive influence and one who has turned against their parents' political views.

And Glenys Kinnock MEP and Debbie Currie, daughter of former MP Edwina, talk to Jenni about the ways political parents turn their children on and off politics.
