Can the move to secondary school be made easier?
Every summer the nation's 11-yr-olds and their parents prepare for a rite of passage - the move from primary to secondary school. For some, it's a challenge they're looking forward to; for others it's a terrifying prospect. Certainly there's often an academic tailing off during the first year of secondary school. So how can the transition to 'big school' be made easier?
Judy Merry speaks to pupils at St Paul's Primary School, Blackburn, about their expectations of moving to secondary school.
Sheila discusses the issues with Pam Bowmaker, Headmistress of The Charter School, Dr Val Milman, Senior Education and Kate Figes: author of The Terrible Teens.
The Terrible Teens by Kate Figes is published by Penguin Books
