Outdoor Ice Skating is enjoying something of a revival. Dozens of outdoor rinks were set up across the country over Christmas and New Year - and at Somerset House in London alone, more than 100,000 people will have skated in the frozen courtyard by the end of the season.

Skating outdoors has always had a romantic image, whether you're Torville and Dean or simply clinging to your partner for fear of falling over. So what's the appeal?
