Geraldine JamesMonday 17 December 2001
She's worn some of the highest heels ever seen on television and one of the worst wigs any woman should ever have to wear.

And in a recent television role as an old lag's wife Geraldine James had to stop washing up to protect her fabulous nail extensions.
In between playing Rose the prostitute in Band of Gold, and mad Lady Maud in Blott on the Landscape she's taken on some of the great classic roles.
Theatre director Peter Hall says Geraldine James ranks amongst the great English classical actresses.
She talks to Jenni about her latest role in Brian Friel's Faith Healer which has just opened at the Almeida Theatre in London.
Faith Healer is at London's Almeida Theatre until the 19th January. Box office: 020 7359 4404
