Loretta Swit is best known for her role as Major Margaret 'Hot Lips' Houlihan in the long-running television series of the 70s and 80s M*A*S*H.
Success allowed her to become one of the queens of American TV movies for about a decade, appearing in a total of 25, which included the role of Chris Cagney in the 1981 pilot for Cagney and Lacey. She has also appeared in eight feature films, is a vocal animal rights activist, and presented a series of successful wildlife magazine programmes for the Discovery Channel in the early '90s.
