Theatre Royal Brighton
The women involved in its two hundred year history

Today the Theatre Royal Brighton celebrates her two hundredth birthday. Throughout it’s history the theatre has hosted the likes of Sarah Siddons in the 18th century, Sarah Bernhardt in the 19th century (and in the 20th century, Flora Robson, Ingrid Bergman, Deborah Kerr, Anna Neagle, Lauren Bacall – and Bette Davis! Judi Herman was taken on a guided tour both front of house and backstage to meet some of the Brightonians for whom it is such a special building.

'Stagestruck', an exhibition celebrating two hundred years of the Theatre Royal Brighton, is running until 2nd September at Brighton Museum and Art Gallery.
