In the week an Ofsted report tells of 7 year olds and younger being excluded from primary schools for offences such as chair throwing and inappropriate sexual behaviour, why does school discipline still seem to be getting worse not better? Jenni is joined by two headteachers who have successfully instilled discipline in challenging schools. Neville Beischer is headteacher at Wright Robinson Sports College in Gorton, Manchester - one of the largest inner city schools in the country with nearly 1800 pupils on its roll call. The majority of his pupils are boys, half of whom come from single parent homes. Shena Moynihan turned round Highcrest Community School at High Wycombe in the space of seven years. Once a notorious sink school it is now seen as one of the best schools in the country for improving its pupils’ chances.
