A Victorian show of curiosities, side-shows & novelty acts
For years a trip to Blackpool meant a laze on the sand, a dip in the sea and a nibble of rock. The resort is also famously linked with the fairground, music hall and circus. A series of events over the next year will celebrate Blackpool’s seaside heritage. ’Admission All Classes’ opened during the summer and Clare Jenkins went along to the first show, ‘A Cabinet of Curiosities’. It features the women who were centre stage at the sideshows; levitating lovelies, girls in goldfish bowls - and headless ladies.
The next ‘Admission All Classes’ weekend in Blackpool is called ‘Variety’ and is at the Grand Theatre, on November 30th.
