Food
The Great British Menu07 Apr 2006
Over the next two months 14 of Britain’s top chefs will be working to produce the perfect four-course meal as part of a new BBC series Great British Menu. The stakes are high because the final dishes will be chosen by public vote, and served at a special lunch to be held at the Mansion House on 15 June to mark Her Majesty the Queen’s 80th birthday.

Martha is joined by Angela Hartnett chef at London's Connaught Hotel, and food writer Sybil Kapoor to discuss what defines British cooking and what makes it great.

Angela Hartnett's Rice Pudding

Great British Menu starts on 10 April at 18.30 on BBC2 - John Burton Race takes on Michael Caines in the battle to create a menu fit for a queen, with goat's cheese versus English asparagus. Which one has got what it takes to be a right royal starter?
