| April 2006 50th Anniversary of the Suez Crisis ![]() This year is the 50th anniversary of the Suez crisis. And to mark the moment that Egypt's president Gamal Abdel Nasser nationalised the Suez canal and sparked an Anglo-French-Israeli invasion, the Today team will be broadcasting a special programme from Alexandria. Suez transformed British foreign policy, Arab Nationalism and Middle East politics and we'll be exploring all these issues and speaking to some of those involved at the time. We asked for your thoughts and memories too. Did you serve in 1956? Were you involved in public policy or did you have relevant photos or even audio material from that year? Or did you simply have a view as to what impact Suez had? Here are some of the emails we received We also asked a number of Suez veterans to write accounts of their experiences during the Suez crisis: Colin Ireland Barrie Harris Brian Clark The BBC is not responsible for external websites | |
