 | Guide Entry: Planet Earth
by Craig Tanswell
Terra or Earth as it is commonly known is a small planet, lovingly restored after previous demolition to make way for a hyper-space bypass. The planet has been reproduced in perfect detail by the Planet Preservation Society in the newly designated Galactic Ecology Park, even using a series of historical memory recreation machines to recreate brain patterns in indigenous life forms.
The Earth provides a unique opportunity to see how, even with an optimum environment, evolution can fail to provide any life forms with intelligence levels above low. Specialist field study is currently being carried out on one of the minor species, known to be one of the most aggressive and destructive animals in the universe - homo non sapiens. Famed for its ability to destroy its own surroundings and kill each other, the Earth offers one of the only planets in the Universe where a visitor can first hand watch the traditional tribal behaviour - including war, religion, work, the M25 and meat flavoured crisps that are vegetarian.
Accommodation has recently improved with the newly created hotels on Mars providing rooms with ensuites and an Earth view, together with safari trips to watch the wildlife close up. One of the other more seedy attractions is that this is one of the few planets where marmite use has been decriminalized and possession for your own use is permitted. Visitor numbers have started to recover after the unfortunate incident where a party of visitors were seriously injured when their space craft was in collision with an unauthorized craft, Beagle 2, unexpectedly sent from the Earth.
