First in a series of docu-dramas that takes major issues of the day and projects them into a catastrophic future. WILLIAM ROBERTS - VORTICISM
It's nearly 40 years since the last exhibition in Britain devoted to the angular paintings of William Roberts and 30 years since a proper survey of the group of artists working in Britain before the first world war who called themselves Vorticists. Front Row brings together the art writer and expert in this period, Richard Cork and Andrew Heard, curator of the William Roberts exhibition about to open at the Hatton Gallery, Newcastle.
'William Roberts: Retrospective 1895-1980' at the Hatton Gallery from March 20 to May 29.
'Blasting the Future - Vorticism in Britain' at the Estorick Collection in London until April 18 and then it opens at the Whitworth Gallery, Manchester on May 7. Both shows have informative catalogues
