SUKHDEV SANDHU
John speaks to Sukhdev Sandhu about his latest book London Calling which tells the story of life in London for black and Asian people from the 17th century until today. He examines their literature, their writings tracing their escapades, follows their fortunes - all in all, a teeming and complex mix of social and cultural history.

PETER JACKSON
Lord of the Rings director, Peter Jackson, is reported today to have catapulted himself towards the top of the Hollywood earnings ladder with a $20 million fee to direct a remake of King Kong. John talks to Michael Fleming, of Variety magazine, about why Jackson has decided to take the money upfront.
