CHRISTOPHER HOPE
John Wilson talks to novelist and poet Christopher Hope, who was banned in his homeland under apartheid, about his latest book Brothers Under the Skin, in which he travels the world observing the brutal, mad and often strangely comic shared traits of such dictators as Mugabe, Charles Taylor, Mobutu, etc.

TOPDOG/UNDERDOG
Rap Star Mos Def is one of the stars of Topdog/Underdog, a new work by Pulitzer Prize winning playwright Suzan-Lori Parks about 2 brothers, grifters, named Lincoln and Booth. The critic Andrea Enisuogh reviews.

Topdog/Underdog opens tonight at the Royal Court Theatre, London, and runs until 30 August 2003

THE BOYLE FAMILY
John Wilson met all 4 members of the Boyle Family: Mark & Joan and their 2 children Sebastian and Georgia who have been a working team of artists for nearly 3 decades. John took a tour around the gallery as the Boyle's were hanging their 3D earth sections.

A retrospective of work by the Boyle family runs at the Scottish National Gallery of Modern Art, Edinburgh, 14 August until 9 November 2003
