SOPHIE'S CHOICE/LA BOHEME
Baz Luhrmann is better known as a highly original film director. But he's now ventured into the world of opera with a new production of La Boheme. Meanwhile, a story better known as a book and then a film gets the opera treatment as Sophie's Choice opens in London (conducted by Sir Simon Rattle). Charles Isherwood of Variety and music critic Ivan Hewitt review.
