In a new film, The Sum Of All Fears, Morgan Freeman is the head of the CIA and Ben Affleck plays Tom Clancy hero, Jack Ryan. But as reader's of Clancy's books know, Ryan has already become President. The Sum Of All Fears features an earlier episode in Ryan's career as does Clancy's new novel, Red Rabbit. Guardian columnist, Peter Preston, discusses the Clancy oeuvre.
