BACKGROUND
These are not particularly obscure tracks but I think fit in to the spirit of Late Junction. The main reason I put them together was because of their strong but unusual rhythms. I like the effective use of suspenseful pauses in tracks 1 and 3. Also they all have a wonderful clarity of sound in the different instuments used. Ali Farka Toure says of ASCO that it is a piece dedicated to his musicians and it is about never assuaging your thirst; the more you hear it, the more you want to hear it. I think this applies to all the pieces.
