BACKGROUND
This selection links Spanish and West African music across the oceans and the centuries. It starts with Sierra Leonian Palm Wine Music, then moves back in time to 18th century Mexico where the Spanish composer Santiago was inspired by music introduced by West African slaves (listen to the bluesy sound!)and finnishes with Spanish, West African and English musicians playing alongside each other as equals
