The first track is a haunting, original song written by Corrina Hewat, and performed by her band Bachue. She often has a blues-like quality to her voice, which sits wonderfully with the cool, sensuality of the 2nd track. Eric Bibb's Paintin Signs is for me the perfect illustration of his warm, and beautifully laid back style of song-writing & singing. Both these tracks are examples of great singers performing very original songs - the 3rd track is a very original singer performing a very standard song... the bizzare rendition of Like Someone in Love by Bjork has stuck with me since I first heard it years ago. Three simple songs. Three knockout performances.
