The Matinee Orchestra is just one of the solo projects of Andrew Hodson, a former member of a band called Jumbo. This self-titled album was recorded in Spain, Taiwan, Scotland and England, and then all put together on Andrew’s laptop at home, and it’s the kind of dense listening experience that slowly reveals more and more detail with each subsequent playing. The album features the guest vocals of Paul Smith from Maximo Park, as well as guest appearances from Peter and David Brewis from Field Music. It’s due for release on 27th February through Arable records.
Brian McBride, along with Adam Wiltzie, has been producing some of the most expansive drift music of the past decade under the moniker of The Stars of the Lid. Brian released his debut solo album last October through Kranky called, When the Detail Lost Its Freedom. The album’s creation provided him with a therapeutic outlet during an intense period of personal change, apparently.
About ten years ago, the members of the alternative metal band, Neurosis, decided to set up a side project called The Tribes of Neurot, and they did that with the specific intention of exploring a more intuitive side to their music, revealing new levels of sonic ambience in the process. Consequently, The Tribes of Neurot’s music is appreciated by fans of heavy metal, as well as by fans of experimental, drone and electronica alike. This track comes from their seventh album which they released last November called Meridian.
