BACKGROUND
Spooky music for Halloween night The first track is from Bo Hansson's seminal album Lord of the Rings. The lovely thick sound that the Swede achieves perfectly evokes a mysterious dense fog, which might hide... who knows what? Second up is Víctor Villadangos' version of Astor Piazzola's 'Midnight in Buenos Aires' ('Buenos Aires hora cero'). Piazzola's original is atmospheric enough but the bizarre sounds that Villadangos rends from his classical guitar are deliciously spine-tingling. Les Négresses are always wonderfully inventive with their use of sounds. I find 'Green Magic Leila' to be tense and oppressive - whatever the gentler title might suggest.
