BACKGROUND
Sally Beamish uses traditional themes in much of her work but she also uses people to inspire new music. Here she performed with her husband, Robert Irvine and based Variations (in Sonata for Cello and Piano) on him! She also composed Wise Maid, based on the traditional, which he performs here. So linking through to the original reels shows how Sally Beamish's continuing compositions are inspired from such diverse sources. Great music!
