BACKGROUND
Four 'Cornish' pieces written by 'furreners' showing a love of and attachment to the area. Show of Hands (the UK's 'best kept secret') perform Steve Knightley's song about not only Corhish miners but about the Cornish having to seek work outside Cornwall whilst the county is 'invaded' by the English who are the only ones who can now afford property in the area. Next a track from 1990 album 'Road to Saint Ives' by the brilliant & inventive John Surman. Once again the music reflects the special fascination that Surman, a Devonian, has with the neighbouring county. Polperro is a chill out track with the option of playing spot the theme. Lastly, a track that's worth going out to buy am amp that 'goes up to 11'. Definitely one to be played at full volume. The Fourth Dance from Malcolm Arnold's Four Cornish Dances. A depiction of the Cornish in music demonstrating that they 'have a highly developed sense of humour' and that Cornwall 'is a land of male voice choirs, brass bands, methodism, May Days, and Moodey and Sankey hymns'.
