3 Piano tracks.
The first is a poignant and meditative track from Seattle-based composer, David Mahler, and it’s taken from a compilation sampler released by Jim Fox’s Cold Blue Music label, home to many a musical treasure.
Multi-instrumentalist, rap-artist and producer, Gonzales, arranged and played instruments on recent albums by both Jane Birkin and Feist. He released an album of solo piano works in September last year that combine the influences of French impressionism and American jazz.
Finally, Dustin O’Halloran (one half of the group Devics) released an album of solo piano works on the Bella Union label last year which he recorded at his home in Italy on an old piano. Again it’s impressionistic and romantic in style with a contemporary edge, and it’s simply exquisite.
