BACKGROUND
A collection of unusual percussion. Congo's Konono No 1, as well as being masters of the mbira, use car parts, lumps of metal and anything else handy to create that rhythmic Bazombo trance music. Roky Erikson's 13th Floor Elevators were bestowed with an electric jug player which, like so may electrical items, would sound surplus to requirements at first but its only when its gone do you realise you can't live without it. And Herbie Mann's Flute Bag was written by, and features, Jazz's premier exponent of the bagpipes Rufus Harley.
